September is Healthy Aging Month

September is Healthy Aging Month and it’s all about nurturing your well-being, including your precious eyes 👁️

Aging eyes undergo a series of natural changes as we grow older, making it important to pay close attention to our eye health throughout our lifespan. One of the most common age-related eye conditions is presbyopia, which affects the ability to focus on close objects, usually emerging in one's 40s. Additionally, the risk of developing eye disorders like cataracts, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration increases with age, potentially leading to vision impairment if left untreated. The eyes also become more susceptible to dryness, and issues related to eye fatigue and reduced night vision may arise. Regular eye exams become essential to detect and manage these conditions, while adopting a healthy lifestyle, including a diet rich in antioxidants, protecting the eyes from excessive UV exposure, and quitting smoking, can contribute to maintaining better eye health as we embrace the natural process of aging.
